Webinar: 2019 Labour Market Update and Workforce Trends

Canada’s direct oil and gas workforce has become much leaner, shrinking from a peak of about 226,500 jobs in 2014 to forecasted employment of 173,300 in 2019 – a 23% drop. This spring the PetroLMI Division of Energy Safety Canada released two reports, one providing the 2019 employment forecast and one on the attitudes and perceptions of the Canadian labour market on careers in oil and gas.

In this webinar, we share the impacts of market uncertainty on the workforce as well as the long-term opportunities for careers. We also discuss the findings of our survey of more than 2,000 Canadians regarding the impacts of the prolonged downturn on their interest and willingness to pursue a career in Canada’s oil and gas industry.
