Insulator

Job Overview

You’ve got it covered – with insulation, that is. You’re like the gymnast of the construction world, as you find yourself climbing, bending and crawling to get insulation into the smallest and most difficult spaces. You apply insulation on all the plumbing, heating and cooling systems, piping equipment, and pressure vessels to reduce the transfer of heat, cold, sound and the chance of fire. With your physical and mental stamina, you have this challenge covered.

Insulators apply insulation on all the plumbing, heating and cooling systems, piping equipment, and pressure vessels to reduce the transfer of heat, cold, sound and the chance of fire. When they aren’t insulating new construction projects, insulators focus on repairs and maintenance. If a pipe breaks, for instance, they remove the insulation so people can make repairs.

Insulators know the types, amounts and installation methods required for different conditions including location, surface shape and equipment use.
